Gase’s tenure with the Jets was a total failure, and New York finally ended it when it fired Gase at the end of his second season on Sunday night with the team following the Jets’ 28-14 loss to the New England Patriots.
The Gase hiring was an odd hire from the start. After some successful stints as an offensive coordinator he was hired by the Dolphins. However his Dolphins led teams were best known for losing games and a bad offense. For some strange reason the Jets decided that what they wanted and for the past two years that's exactly what they got.
Another thing Gase was known for was a bad attitude and often feuding with his players. Not surprisingly shortly after he was hired, there were reports that he was unhappy the team signed free-agent running back Le’Veon Bell and linebacker C.J. Mosley.
The Jets were once 0-13 in 2020. They won two straight but even that hurt the franchise as it knocked them out of the number one spot in the draft likely removing any chance for the Jets to draft Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is consider by many to be the best QB prospect since Andrew Luck.
That means nothing good comes out of Gase’s time with the Jets. But at least for Jets fans the Gase era/error is over.
