Finnish President Alexander Stubb believes that the chances of Russian President Vladimir Putin agreeing to a ceasefire in Ukraine are "abysmal." In an interview with the BBC aired on Sunday, Stubb stated:
"Putin doesn't want peace. His original goal was for Ukraine to 'cease to exist.' He has not changed his goal."
While Ukraine has shown willingness to consider a ceasefire, Russia is currently not open to immediate negotiations. This reluctance follows a recent proposal from the United States.
