In a surprising turn of events, Kamala Harris has pulled ahead of Donald Trump in the race for the White House, according to a new Fox News poll. Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer reported Thursday that the former president had lost his edge in two critical battleground states: Georgia and North Carolina. The conservative network now considers both states, along with Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, and Wisconsin, to be “toss-up” races.

As a result, Harris has overtaken Trump in Fox’s Power Ranking predictions, securing 241 electoral votes to Trump’s 217. Hemmer emphasized that this is the first time Harris has surpassed Trump in their electoral map predictions.

Harris's Path to 270 Electoral Votes

Josh Krashaar, editor-in-chief of Jewish Insider, appeared alongside Hemmer to discuss the poll results. Krashaar noted that Harris now has significantly more pathways to reach the 270 electoral votes needed to win than President Joe Biden did during his campaign. "With Georgia and North Carolina looking a whole lot more competitive, there are a lot more possibilities for the Democrats," Krashaar said. He added that winning Georgia alone could help Harris avoid reliance on Pennsylvania, offering her more flexibility in key Sun Belt states.

Key Polling Shifts

This shift in electoral predictions comes after the Cook Political Report recently changed North Carolina's status from “leaning Republican” to a “toss-up.” In addition, Fox News polling from Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina showed Harris narrowing the gap in these key states. Notably, the polling revealed Harris leading Trump by two points in Georgia—a crucial battleground in the upcoming election.

As Harris continues to build momentum in these battleground states, the race is becoming increasingly competitive, with more electoral paths opening up for the Democratic ticket. This unexpected development has shifted the political landscape as the campaign heats up.
