Electricity Suspension Announced

Following the halt of humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip, Israel has also decided to stop supplying electricity to the affected region. This announcement was made by Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen on Sunday.

Reasons for Action

Minister Cohen stated that this move is intended to apply pressure on Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist organization currently holding numerous hostages. He emphasized the need for decisive action:

"Enough talk, it's time for action."

Hostage Situation

In a video message, Cohen confirmed: "We will use all means at our disposal to ensure that all hostages are returned and we will ensure that Hamas is no longer in Gaza the day after."

Impact on Gaza's Population

About a week ago, Israel ordered a complete stop of aid deliveries after the first phase of a ceasefire ended. Various aid organizations have raised concerns about the serious repercussions this could have on the 2 million residents of Gaza.

The power supply in Gaza has faced challenges for years. With the shutdown of the only power station in the region due to ongoing conflict, many residents rely on solar energy and generators for electricity.
