The New York Jets have hired San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as their next head coach, the team announced Thursday, Saleh signed a five year deal and is expected to bring with him the 49ers passing game coordinator, and former Falcons and Browns offensive assistant, Mike LaFleur with him as offensive coordinator. Saleh is set to be the NFLs first Muslim head coach, after leading a 49ers defense that was 2nd in 2019 and 5th in 2020.
