NRCC Targets Vulnerable House Democrats for 2026 Midterms

This article covers:

  • Overview of NRCC's list of House Democrats
  • Comments from NRCC Chair Richard Hudson
  • DCCC's response to NRCC's strategy
  • Comparison of NRCC and DCCC target lists

NRCC's Target List

The National Republican Congressional Campaign (NRCC) has identified 26 vulnerable House Democrats for the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. The targeted representatives hail from various states, as detailed in the table below:

State Representatives
California Josh Harder, Adam Gray, George Whitesides, Derek Tran, Dave Min
Florida Darren Soto, Jared Moskowitz
Indiana Frank Mrvan
Maine Jared Golden
Michigan Kristen McDonald Rivet
North Carolina Don Davis
New Hampshire Chris Pappas
New Jersey Nellie Pou
New Mexico Gabe Vasquez
Nevada Dina Titus, Susie Lee, Steven Horsford
New York Tom Suozzi, Laura Gillen, Josh Riley
Ohio Marcy Kaptur, Emilia Sykes
Texas Henry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez
Virginia Eugene Vindman
Washington Marie Gluesenkamp Perez

NRCC's Strategy

NRCC Chair Richard Hudson expressed confidence in their campaign strategy, stating that House Republicans are "on offense" for the next election cycle. He criticized the targeted House Democrats for being disconnected from everyday Americans:

“These vulnerable House Democrats have been hard at work demonstrating they are painfully out of touch with hardworking Americans. Republicans are taking the fight straight to these House Democrats in their districts, and we will unseat them next fall.”

DCCC's Response

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) countered NRCC's claims. Spokesperson Viet Shelton highlighted the strength of Democratic candidates:

“These Frontliners will win again in the midterms. The truth is House Republicans are running scared and refusing to hold town halls because they don’t want to get yelled at for their failure to lower prices, bungling the economy, and cutting Medicaid in order to pay for tax breaks for billionaires like Elon Musk.”

Comparison of Target Lists

Both the NRCC and DCCC have published lists targeting different Democrats, some of whom overlap. Notable overlaps include 13 House Democrats from districts that President Trump won during the last election. However, it is important to note:

  • Democratic Frontline list includes candidates like Jahana Hayes (Conn.), John Mannion (N.Y.), and Janelle Bynum (Ore.), who are not NRCC targets.
  • NRCC targets Darren Soto, Chris Pappas, and Jared Moskowitz, who do not appear on the Frontline list.
